Alcázar was built for its current owner to be sailed by one
couple and comfortably accommodates two couples in equally spacious staterooms.
This vessel is the optional, “mid cockpit” configuration, but combines
the standard, 2-cabin layout forward, into one large guest “suite”.
Extensive cruising in comfort and safety were the first considerations in the vessel’s development. In addition to Mason’s well-known reputation for beefy construction, every safety item and redundant system has been incorporated into the vessel. The vessel is loaded with the highest quality equipment for dependability and reduced maintenance.
Main Salon – Entry
is from the forward end of cockpit into a spacious “great cabin” effect salon.
To port is a beautiful, “Sunburst” inlaid teak dining table surrounded
by a “horseshoe” shaped dinette sofa covered in Nova Suede® and to starboard
is a “L” shaped settee covered in the same fabric.
The enclosed entertainment center includes a 21” color TV, VCR, AM/FM
stereo, cassette deck and CD player, all remote controlled.
Teak valances on each side conceal soft backlighting and micro/mini
blinds. Adjacent to starboard side
of companionway is a large wet locker with drain.
Nav Station – This dedicated cubicle is located to starboard, off the aft end of the main salon and features a hinged, full sized chart table/desk top with storage beneath, a SS “swing away” chair and multiple storage cabinets. All equipment is flush mounted in 2 panels, which are hinged and fold down for easy access and maintenance. A large electrical panel, divided into separate AC and DC sections, contains circuit breakers for each item on the vessel and is protected by a clear, ½" Plexiglas door.
Galley – Overlooking and aft of the main salon to port, is a large, “Gourmet” style galley featuring ceramic tile counter tops with double, oversized SS sinks and Hans Grohe fixtures. Appliances include a Force 10, four burner stove/oven with broiler, U-Line ice maker, Broan trash compactor, combination washer/dryer, a Grunert 10 cu.ft. top/side loading refrigerator and separate 8 cu.ft. top loading freezer. Additionally the galley has generous drawer and locker space with built in racks for dishes and glassware.
Owner's
Stateroom – Entry is
from the aft end of the galley through a sliding pocket door and opens into
a spacious suite not often found on a vessel this size. Featuring a king size, centerline berth, “his
and hers” hanging lockers and a recessed 13” color TV, this suite was designed
with “stuff” in mind as it contains 32 drawers and cabinets plus tremendous
storage beneath the berth. Forward
of this suite and to starboard, a private head features an elegant vanity
with sculptured sink, Hans Grohe fixtures, marble counter top and floor areas
plus a large, separate shower area with seat and linen storage cabinet.
Guest Cabin - The standard 2 cabin layout was combined to form one
large suite which also serves as a “study” when not in use by guests. Entry is forward of the main salon and features
a large double berth (queen size at the shoulders) with abundant storage beneath
to port. A “love seat”, flanked by
double book shelves, is to starboard. The Suite also contains abundant locker, drawer,
hanging locker and cabinet space including an enclosed 9” color TV/VCR combo.
The guest head located forward of the sleeping quarters, features an
elegant vanity with sculptured sink, marble counter top and Hans Grohe fixtures.
A fixed SS ladder and large hatch above, provides additional foredeck
access.
Focsle – Entry is forward of guest head with hanging
locker and sail storage bin to port side and large workbench with divided
storage bins below, to starboard. The
workbench was designed to also serve as a single berth for guests or crew. Double doors at the forward end of the focsle
provide excellent access to a large chain locker with storage shelves. Cockpit
– Lengthened more than 18” over the standard specs, the cockpit can
comfortably seat 8 adults for sailing or 4 for dinner at a beautiful, collapsible
teak table. All control lines can be
led to interior of cockpit with “single handed” sailing in mind.
A combination of dodger, bimini and removable full enclosure allow
for sailing in any weather conditions. Deck
– Flush deck hatches over the foredeck and aft lazarette storage spaces,
combined with low profile cabin hatches, result in expansive, uncluttered
areas for both work and play.
Engine Spaces - The auxiliary
and generator are located in a heavily insulated compartment beneath the salon
cabin sole thereby increasing stability and reducing cabin noise. This also allows for abundant storage elsewhere
in the vessel. Their “inline” positioning
(auxiliary aft & generator fwd), results in comfortable access to every
aspect of the 2 engines for ease of routine maintenance or repair. Lazarette & Storage Spaces
- The standard aft lazarette was increased in size due to the relocation
of the two 20 lb LP bottles and outboard motor gasoline tanks, to dedicated
storage compartments on the foredeck which are vented and drained overboard
for safety. Noisy refrigeration and
HVAC compressors are located in the lazarette, outside of living spaces or
the hot engine room.
Alcázar this sailboat has been maintained in a “cherished” condition
and its equipment has been constantly up-graded, including a new Awlgrip paint
job in November 2002. A visit to both
of these links, Alcazar del Mar Photographs and Detailed
Specifications and Equipment List, are a must to truly
appreciate this sailboat being offered for sale. Why wait to sail the Bahamas, Caribbean or the
world. Additional information can be
